Reliability of the thoracolumbar injury classification and severity score compared with the McAfee classification among young neurosurgeons

Objective: The reliability of the thoracolumbar injury classification and severity (TLICS) score is well established; however, its among young neurosurgeons in particular has not been investigated. This study was designed to identify intra- inter-observer differences between TLICS system McAfee neurosurgeons, with goal facilitating communication physicians treatment decision-making for patients injuries.Methods: Six reviewed spinal fracture January 2016 October 2020 analyzed fractures according 2 systems. scale assessed Cohen Fleiss kappa tests.Results: intra-observer value exhibited excellent (κ=0.85) compared (κ=0.79). values each category were 0.69 (morphology), 0.93 (neurologic status), 0.74 (posterior ligamentous complex), 0.72 (total score). lower (κ=0.52).Conclusion: showed higher than classification. more consistent results may thus serve as a guideline treating fractures.
